Alpine strawberries are a perennial strawberry that self-propagates by sending out runners, forming a patch over time. It makes a great productive groundcover under fruit trees in an orchard or food forest and can handle semi shade.

 

Alpine strawberries grow quickly and can begin fruiting a few months after planting. They are very productive and can fruit almost year round here in the North, but the fruits are sweetest and most prolific over Summer. The delicious tangy fruit are smaller than regular strawberries but are sweeter and have more flavour.

 

An easy to grow plant, great for home gardens.
