The White Alpine Strawberry is similar to the red variety, but it grows in a clump instead of sending out runners. It can still be planted as part of a food forest or perennial garden bed, but it is also a great plant to have in a pot or hanging basket on the balcony or back step, where it’s easier to remember to pick the delicious fruit daily.

Like the red it grows quickly and can begin fruiting a few months after planting. It is a very productive plant and can fruit almost year round here in the North, but is more prolific and sweetest over summer. The delicious, tangy fruit are smaller than regular strawberries but are sweeter and have a flavour somewhat reminiscent of pineapple.
